Spongebob has always been a favorite TV show for many kids all around the world. With its funny characters such as Patrick Star and Spongebob himself, the TV show has been a favorite for people for almost 16 years now. The Spongebob crew have now made it to the big screen by making a movie “The Spongebob Movie: Sponge Out of Water,” which came out on February 6, 2015.
This movie is about a pirate named Burger Beard who needs the final page to his book which allows him to write the future. This final page is Mr. Krabs’ secret formula for the Krabby Patty. In this movie, it shows the struggle for the people in Bikini Bottom to get the formula back.
In this movie, Spongebob, Patrick, Squidward, Sandy, and Mr. Krabs go into the human world for the first time. A unique part to this movie is that all of these characters gain superpowers which makes it interesting because it is not something that people are used to in the regular TV show.
Another great thing about this movie is that it is available in 3D. With the movie’s colorful and bright tone, 3D complements the whole movie experience.
The rude humor that Spongebob always has is still there in the movie. The character dialogue stays the same in the movie as when the show started in 1999.
One thing that did change in the movie is that Plankton (a long time enemy of Mr. Krabs and the rest on his crew) become a teammate to them. It is nice to finally see Plankton as a good guy for once.
The last Spongebob movie was tough to beat, but this one comes pretty close to being just as good. The first one is hard to beat considering it was made at the peak of the TV show. Still, the recent movie is very surprising with how well made it is.
As of March 8th, the Spongebob Movie has grossed $149 million in North America. In other territories, it’s grossed $110.4 million.
